Sorry for being MIA. Ever since we updated our Mac software onto our iMac, iPhoto stopped working. We've uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted... you name it and it still doesn't work. Hence, not doing any blog posts because I can't share recent pics. I talked with the people at the Apple store and they said we would have to bring our computer in (really, our iMac?) - Daniel is determined to fix it, so stay tuned. Disclaimer: This is the first problem we have EVER had with any of our Apple products, so I think it's probably something we did and not the computer. I always encourage people to go with a Mac over PC because we have been overly pleased with everything.
Speaking of Apple... Daniel and I got our iPhone4s's on Friday. Daniel was like a little kid on Christmas Eve... he waited eagerly all day for the UPS guy to show up at our house. He even wouldn't let us both be gone from the house at the same time in fear we would miss our delivery. (insert giggling)
We are SO HAPPY with our new iPhones. I mean, we both had our iPhone3G from early 2008, so this was a major upgrade. I love how fast it is. It takes video and better pictures than my old Canon Powershot Camera - which is perfect when you have two toddlers running around. I finally have all of my favorite apps on it and am excited to try new apps out that weren't compatible when I had the iPhone3G.
And then there is Siri. She is amazing. It's hard to explain so go on to the Apple website and check her out. You can ask her anything and she will tell you the answer. I asked her what the tallest building was in Paris and she pulled up all the buildings in Paris with their heights and locations on a map. Pretty amazing. I can say "call Daniel" and it will call him. I can say "I'm going to meet with Daniel tomorrow at 10:30 - put it on the calendar" and she will ask "do you want a reminder?" and I'll say "sure - remind me at 9:30 tomorrow morning"... and it's done. Just like that!
The one thing that scares me about this amazing technology... what will this do to literacy and writing in schools? In eighth grade I had students who would write essays in "text message" verbiage - example: i luv u u da best. Seriously. Now that they have a phone that will write everything down for you, it makes me very nervous about getting kids to understand things like subject-verb agreement and run-on sentences. Maybe this technology is too much of a good thing? As someone said to me on Friday, we were all smarter before cell phones.
I kind of agree... but Daniel, please don't take back my iPhone.
